Uncharted 2: Among Thieves AsiaOne Upon reaching the top floor, the first thing I did was to jump into the rooftop swimming pool. A firefight erupts. You simply hold the analog stick towards something that Nathan might be able to use as a foothold, and if it works, he will stick a hand out towards it.
Then there is the stealth action from Assassin's Creed. There is a multiplayer mode, modelled after Call Of Duty 4's framework in that your party of friends can be matchmade against strangers in a series of typical co-op and competitive modes like survival and capture-the-flag respectively. It is rumoured to be the world's biggest raw sapphire gem located in Shambhala. It is one lofty heist, but as the saying goes: 'If you're going to steal, steal from the best.' Fitting then that in crafting Nathan's tale, developer Naughty Dog has pilfered from some of the most tried-and-tested gameplay elements in recent video-gaming history. From Tomb Raider: Legend comes the rock-climbing segments. Creep up to the back of an enemy and by just pressing a button, you disable him using moves like the neck twist or the thoroughly underhanded 'angry monkey steals peaches' (also known as the nutcracker in Western parlance). Should you botch the stealth-kill, you have the option of engaging in melee combat - press square to attack, triangle to counter incoming blows - or bring out the big guns and go Gears Of War (Xbox360): hit circle to slide into nearby cover, then pop your head out and take aim only when it is not risky. The 15-hour single-player experience is not to be missed and can be replayed on higher difficulty levels or with unlockable cheats - like one-shot kills - switched on. Just be warned though. The wall next to me gets blown apart by a guided missile from the chopper. Before long, the building eats one too many missiles and topples over while I am still inside. A surreal scene ensues where furniture slides down towards a gaping hole in the wall, but my foes and I continue to fight tenaciously. We are on the trail of Marco Polo's treasure, the Cintamani Stone. At this point, a helicopter appears from nowhere and shoots wildly with its machine gun turret. I hop back indoors, right where a pack of soldiers lay in ambush. It was like an oasis during a desert trek. After getting out of the pool, I zip down to an adjacent building and begin to shimmy across a wooden beam. But it is uninspiring and no match for Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
